Elders 15 – Burdock and Dandilion

All had done their homework, burdock and dandilion – which gave many surprises. Dandilion not only the Pis au Lit plant but also a food full of nutritian. As was Burdock, in fact it seemed to contain every vitamin and goodness except Vit B. And who knew Burdock was the inspiration for Velcro. De Mestral gave the name Velcro, a portmanteau of the French words velours (‘velvet’) and crochet (‘hook’), to his invention, as well as to the Swiss company he founded; Velcro SA. 1955.

Kally taught us how to spin Flax – would it be tough enough for Wil for his bow and arrow?

We pressed a big burdock leaf into clay, which Kally will organise to be fired.

We dug up Burdock root, and Virginia tasted it (see photo for result)

Peter and Rachel made the first window for Folk East (20 more to go!)

Homework: Herbs (for tea or food)
