Inspired by Kally, (oh how she inspires us all), Leslie has forgone housework and instead created hapazone kit bags, which are beautiful and were the talking stick which we passed around.
It was VE day, so along with what we witnessed in nature, we shared our VE stories, mainly from that of our parents, although there were two who had memories that far back.
- Michael remembers running up and down the street banging on doors and shouting the news, the war has ended.
- Armoral’s father was in Coldiz during the war, and she remembers that a guard from that notorious prison camp had struck up a friendship with her father, and every year came over to stay with them. He was extremely fit and keen on keeping fit, and her father would jest he was exhausted by breakfast with the walking regime.
- Emily told the story of coded biscuits. Her father was painting the young queen and due to astute protection, she could never say if she could come to the sitting or not, so she left 2 ginger biscuits as code to say she could not make it that day. Years later, when Emilys own daughter found herself filing in the Windsor estate, she found herself filming in the same room as that very portrait.
- My father was in the fire service in Coventry blitz. I have still to make it Coventry and see what they have done to re-create the cathedral.
Of nature, and what we have witnessed
- Listening to the doves in my garden, I hear them say, I love youuu, I love youuuuu, Dr Whoooooo.
- Some plants remind me of my parents.
…
We walked over to the pond, still with water, and this was witnessed
- 6 tadpoles
- 1 potential frog
- Evidence of Muntjac hoofs around pond
- Amazing display by a dragon fly NAME, laying eggs on the surface of the pond, then being hocked by a male dragon, and chased by another. It was all go on the pond, so much so, we stopped talking.
- A new plant unknown to us called Field Peppergrass
Also known as Field Cress. Non toxic to humans. Leslie and Cally tried a bit and confirmed it was peppery. Historically used as pepper. Has developed a fascinating evolutionary tactic for seed distribution. it’s fruits explosively eject seeds when touched a phenomenon known as ‘BALLISTIC DISPERSAL’
Back at the ranch, we pressed our hapazone flowers, including the Field Peppergrass adding to the general mandala.
