Elders 10 – Hapazone sheet as evidence of land survey

Indeed, least we forget we are scientists, and not only did we measure the height of the trees, we used our new skill of hapazoning to capture a survey of what flowers and grasses came to the land this year, the 2nd year of wildnerness.

But first homework: What lives in the wood, or for some what lives in holes in the wood.

No rain: Spring 2025 is currently on track to be the driest spring in the UK since 1852. We estimated about 40% of trees were looking dead through the tubes: oaks and hazel and hawthorn on clay doing the best.

We gathered and identified the flowers and some grasses and learned a grass useful id rhyme.

Sedges have edges
Reeds have leaves
Rushes are round

Rose-anne found a frog. We were all happy to be on the field, looking at flowers gathering, sedges, finding connections (Bloomsbury). Oh that Red Clover.

Finally a sheet from the last century was produced and we arrange our grasses, flowers leaves, and bashed away.

End of term gathering of statistics – have the black poplars and the walnuts grown an inch without any rain? At the end.
