Tell us about Beltane we asked the Elders to come with today and full of spring energy they did exactly that. What revelationst the end all our questions answeredfrom the Witches Handbook, a handy resource, introduced to us by Corinna:
- ancient Gaelic festival celebrated on May 1st
- Traditionally a fire festival, jumping the fire, for protection and prosperity,
- celebrating growth and fertility of the land
- Linked with Samhain calling in our ancestors (or as Kally calls them descendants)
- May pole dancing – we remembered NOT being selected to be the May queen.
Talking of Corinna – she gave us a sample of the most delicious soup today: made out of Alexanders, nettles and dandelion leaves it had a good peppery earthy taste. It was a Corinna day, she did the notes into our book too: (Link to Rachel’s story here) and made a wand.
However, Colin made a wand specifically to catch the May queen.
Meanwhile some of us labeled with the colour code the amazing Dyeing plants Kally had nurtured for us, with Esther replanting the giant WOAD, while we discussed the up coming elections and how to deal with friends who vote the diametric opposite to your values.
A rush to leave as the road was being repaired with concrete at 3pm sharp.
